Unstoppable Talent

What a lovely feeling - I stepped back into the shop on Monday, after leaving it in the ever so friendly and capable hands of Maddy over the weekend. And look what has grown in my absence!

Maddy made these totally awesome paper flowers out of old road maps. Just while she was sitting in here…. seriously! Even with little stitching and everything. Well I never! Her talent is unstoppable I tell you!

Don’t they just make these new glass vases from Have you Met Miss Jones and Zakkaya look super cute? Chose from one, three or four in a basket!

It wasn’t a Rock

It was a Rock Lobster….

yes I’m showing my age and quoting B52’s - but oh my, what a classic song huh?

So that brings me to this. These super new wall hangings by local Geelong outfit Ballyhoo Art. Choose from my favourite, Rock Lobster or the oh so lovely, and oh so glamorous, Penny Peacock (who is actually this beautiful deep navy colour - I love navy). Hand made in Australia and hand painted - such crafty coolness for your walls!

They also distribute these gorgeous cards from Schmook - as seen in the lovely Frankie Mag.

Oh Me Oh My Indeed!

You know what - I don’t even know where to start on this one. Truly, this has to be the most beautiful, amazing, inspiring artwork we’ve had at Mac Pelican. And that’s the honest truth.

Tuesday Designs is their name and these incredible artworks are their game. Sisters Taryn and Elise are the creative duo that started it all.

Dresses are meticulously pieced together from pieces of antique fabric, while birds peer from cages of embossed paper, or out of pear trees that look like clouds. Skirts hide the blackbird in the rain - each wing painstakingly pieced together after perhaps hours of sifting through piles of tiny off cuts searching for the perfect piece. Most are sourced from the remnants of vintage kimonos.

They are honestly breathtaking - the incredible detail makes me gasp.
